Online Workshop on Portrait Photography for COVID19 Relief

Anushya Badrinath May 7, 2021

In the wake of the devastating second COVID19 wave in India, I’m doing an online portrait photography workshop to raise funds for two organisations doing urgent and important relief work in Bangalore and Karnataka.

Hasiru Dala is providing food and medical support to 6,000 affected waste-picker families in 24 cities in Karnataka and 2 in Andhra Pradesh. They are now also supporting children whose parents/families have been affected by COVID19.

Mercy Mission is a coalition of various NGOs in Bangalore that is providing food, oxygen, logistical support through a helpline and ambulances to help ferry COVID19 patients to hospitals.

If you, like me, have been feeling helpless and want to help, please consider donating my workshop fee of INR 2,000 or $30 to either of the above organisations.

How this works:

  1. Make a donation for INR 2,000 or $30 to either
    Hasiru Dala here: www.ketto.org/fundraiser/HasiruDalaCovidRelief
    OR
    Mercy Mission here: www.milaap.org/fundraisers/support-mercy-mission

  2. Send a screenshot of the payment confirmation to info@lightvinestudio.com

  3. I will respond to your email with a meeting link for the workshop

  4. Applies to donations made on or after 7 May 2021

Workshop Dates

US: 23 May 4-6 pm EST
US/India:
29 May 9:30-11:30 am EST or 7-9 pm IST
Where: Online!

What will be covered:

  1. Introduction to basic photographic concepts

  2. Jugaad lighting: learning to work with what you have to light your portraits

  3. Tips on posing your subjects and making them feel comfortable

  4. Editing your photos on your computer and phone

No fancy equipment is required! You will need either a camera (any kind) or smartphone, a notebook, and a handy movable light source (like a table lamp or torch).

The workshop is open to folks outside India too. You do not need any prior experience with photography for this workshop.
Please note: If the timing is inconvenient for those outside India, I am happy to coordinate a time that is better suited for your time zone.
